Given:
m=1 g=103 kg
h=1 Km=1000 m=103 m
The change in kinetic energy of the drop is
ΔK=12mv20 (u=0)
= 12×103×50×50=1.25 J
The work done by the gravitational force is
Wg=mgh=103×10×103=10 J
According to work-energy theorem,
ΔK=Wg+Wr
Where Wr is the work done by the resistive force on the rain drop
Wr=ΔKWg=1.25 J10 J=8.75 J
