A solution of caustic soda (NoOH) in water or when fused, conducts electric current. What is the similarity in these two cases?

Solution
When NaOH is fused,if we pass an electric current through it,it breaks up into Na+ and OH−. The sodium cation migrates towards the cathode and OH− towards anode.
In case of NaOH solution(dilute NaOH), the solution breaks into H+,2OH− and Na+. Here since the concentration of water is more, H+ and OH− are collected first through selective discharge of ions.
