Given that,
l1=0 cm mark is at temperature T1=20 C
and l2=100 cm mark is at temperature T2=100 C.
Let the temperature reading of the thermometer at l=60 cm be T.
By using the formula l2l1=α(T2T1), we can write that
TT1T2T1=ll1l2l1 .........(1)

Using(1), we get
T2010020=6001000
T2080=60100
