Question

Can the state of absolute rest or motion be defined for any object? Comment.

Solution

Absolute rest or motion is physically impossible for a body to be at absolute rest it must be at rest with respect to every object in this universe. But such frame of reference was never detected. Famous experiments like Michelson Morley experiment tried to find out the absolute rest or motion medium but they got null results. Since, an absolute motion or rest frame of reference cannot be detected science do not accept the same.

If you notice you will never find a perfectly static thing in this universe. Earth is moving around the sun, sun is moving around its barycentre, the galaxy rotates and revolves and everything in this universe moves. Since, there can be no absolute rest there can be no absolute motion.
