Regeneration:

  1. Regeneration is one of the processes in which if an organism is cut into several pieces, each of its parts regrows to the original state.
  2. This process is carried out by specialized cells called stem cells.
  3. It takes place in organisms that have a very simple structure with very few specialized cells.

More complex organisms can not give rise to new individuals through regeneration because of :

  1. Their body structure is highly complicated.
  2. There are specific organs to do specific task in body.
  3. There is complete division of labour in the body of complex organisms.
  4. Regeneration is carried out by specialised cells, which are not present in complex organisms.
