Solution

The correct option is C FSH, estrogen, progesterone
When the menstrual cycle starts, FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) is secreted from the anterior pituitary, which stimulates the development of ovarian follicles up to ovulation. The secretion of both the gonadotropins (LH and FSH) increases gradually during the follicular phase. On the 14th day of the cycle, there is a surge in LH (luteinizing hormone) levels and this triggers ovulation. Ovarian follicles secrete estrogen hormone, which stimulates the development of secondary sex organs and sexual characters. The ruptured follicle develops into corpus luteum, a yellow body that secretes progesterone hormone required for maintenance of inner lining of the uterus. So, the correct answer is - FSH, estrogen, progesterone.
