Question

Derive the relation between momentum and impulse

Open in App
Solution

We know that Impulse=Force*Time
and

F = dp/dt

or

Fdt = dp

integrating within limits, we get

F X t = p2 - p1

here

F X t = I which is impulse

and p2 - p1 is the change in momentum

thus,

So impulse= change in momentum
