Mole concept:

  • According to the mole concept, one mole of a substance has mass equal to its gram atomic mass or gram molecular mass depending on whether the particles are atomic or molecules. i.e.; 1 mole of any substance= Gram Atomic or molecular weight of the substance.
  • As Sodium (Na) is an element and consists of atoms and atomic weight of Sodium is 23 u.

Therefore, according to mole concept, amount of sodium in 1 mole of sodium is 23 g mol-1.
