Solution
Take a sample of the colourless liquid and place it on the burner; if it begins to boil exactly at 100oC, it is pure water.
The boiling point of any other colorless liquid, such as vinegar, is always different. Also, keep in mind that the entire liquid will evaporate after some time, leaving no behind.
We can test it by examining the reactivity of particular metals that react vigorously.
