Solution

Explanation :

  1. Ovulation is defined as the process of release of a mature egg from the ovary.
  2. The egg (ovum) reaches the Fallopian tube where the sperm (male gametes) fertilizes the egg cell (female gametes), resulting in a diploid zygote.
  3. The zygote undergoes mitotic division as it passes from the Fallopian tube to the uterus, upon reaching the uterus, the embryo gets implanted on the uterine wall.
  4. The gestation period is the time frame during which the embryo remains in the uterus.
  5. At the end of the gestation period, the uterine wall contracts vigorously and the baby is delivered. This is called parturition.

Final answer: The sequence leading to the formation of fetus and birth is ovulation, fertilization, implantation, gestation, and parturition.
