How can we preserve our forest wealth?

Forest:

1. Forest is the habitat for a variety of living beings including plants, animals and microorganisms.
2. Steps must be taken to raise awareness about the dangers of deforestation and preserve our forest wealth. Some of the steps are mentioned below:
   • Trees should be planted in wastelands where forest cover is vanishing, Afforestation is the process of planting a significant number of trees.
   • Through programmes like 'Vanmahotsava,' people and students should be encouraged to plant more trees.
   • People and students should be made aware of the importance of forests through education and awareness campaigns.
   • Cattle overgrazing should be avoided by providing enough pasture in locations near forests.
   • Illegal tree logging for timber must be avoided.
   • Illegal animal poaching and hunting must be avoided.
