Ovaries are the primary female sex organs that help in the production of gametes and hormones.
They are located on both sides of the lower abdomen, one on each side.
Each ovary is approximately 2-4 cm long and is attached to the uterus and the pelvic wall via ligaments.
The ovaries produce two female sex hormones: estrogen and progesterone.
Estrogen is one of the significant known hormones in the female reproductive system, and it helps in inducing puberty in females.
Progesterone is also a major hormone that is associated with ovulation and pregnancy.
