Solution

Solvent extraction method is based on the principle of preferential solubility of the solid component in a solvent.

Example :
A mixture of sand and salt can be separated by this method.
  • Salt gets dissolved in water forming a solution while sand settles down in the container.
  • The salt solution is then decanted, and salt is separated from the solution by evaporation.
