Question

Robot is living thing or nonliving thing?

Open in App
Solution

Robots are non-living things:

  1. The robots do not show metabolism, i.e., formation and breaking of the biological molecules like starch, glucose, proteins, fats, etc.
  2. Robots do not respire- they get energy from the electric energy and not by cellular respiration in which glucose is broken down by oxygen to release energy in the form of ATP.
  3. Robots lack consciousness, at its simplest, it is awareness of internal and external existence. Robots work on commands given by the user.
  4. Robots do not require food.
  5. Robots do not reproduce, i.e., they do not give birth to the young generation individuals.
  6. Hence, robots are non-living despite being able to move.
