Solution

The correct option is B False
False.

Metal oxides are compounds in which there are two elements, i.e., a metal and an oxygen atom. For example, sodium oxide (Na2O), magnesium oxide (MgO), Calcium oxide (CaO), etc. These are basic because when they react with dilute acids then, they form salt and water which show that metal oxides are basic.

Non-metallic oxides are acidic in nature.

They form an acidic solution when dissolved in water, turning the blue litmus solution into red colour.

Example: Non-metal oxides like CO2 and SO2 react with water Carbonic acid (H2CO3) and sulphuric acid (H2SO4).

Amphoteric oxides: Almost all metallic oxides are basic oxides. But some metallic

oxides show the characteristics of both acidic as well as basic oxides, i.e., they react with

both acids as well as bases to form salt and water. Such oxides are called amphoteric

oxides. The oxides of zinc, aluminium, lead and tin are amphoteric in nature
