Solution

Carbonate ores:

  • A carbonate is a carbonic acid salt (H2CO3).
  • Carbonate minerals are abundant and diverse in chemically precipitated sedimentary rock. Carbonates are mildly acidic bases.
  • Calcite, or Calcium Carbonate, CaCO3, is the major ingredient of limestone (as well as mollusc shells and coral skeletons); Dolomite, is a Calcium-Magnesium Carbonate CaMg(CO3)2.
  • Malachite is Cu(OH)2.CuCO3. It is carbonate ore.
  • Siderite is FeCO3, an Iron ore.

Thus, (iv) Malachite and (vi) Siderite are carbonate ores.
