The reactivity series (or activity series) of the metals is a series in which metals are arranged in the decreasing order of reactivity.
At the top of the series, most reactive metals are present.
At the bottom of the series, least reactive metals are present. The reactivity series is obtained by performing displacement reactions between various metals and their salt solutions.
Sodium, potassium, magnesium and aluminium are more reactive than hydrogen. Copper, mercury, gold and silver are less reactive than hydrogen.
