  1. True breeding lines in the case of plants are those plants that have been generated through repeated self-pollination.
  2. These plants become homozygous for a particular trait.
  3. This trait is then passed on to future generations if bred with another true-breeding plant.
  4. Along with the useful traits some harmful traits also keep on accumulating resulting in inbreeding depression.
