Types of layering:

Mound layering:

  1. The lower branches of a plant are allowed to bend down until it touches the soil.
  2. Roots form in that part of the plant and can be cut from the parent plant and can be grown anywhere,e.g. jasmine and grapevine.

Aerial layering:

A girdled aerial stem is maintained in moist condition and wrapped in polythene till it develops roots,e.g. orange, guava, litchi, etc.
