What is the function of insulin hormone? What type of patients are given insulin injections?

Open in App
Solution

Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas that regulates the sugar levels in the blood by increasing the cellular uptake of glucose and reducing its level in the blood.
  • When the pancreas fails to maintain the sugar levels due to decreased insulin secretion, the sugar level in the blood is detected high and a doctor recommends taking the insulin injections externally in a condition called diabetes.
