It is considered part of the nervous system of the whole body except the brain and spinal cord and it is consist of ganglia.

CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM(CNS)PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM(PNS)
CNS is consist of the brain and spinal cord of the vertebrates.PNS is consist of the somatic nervous system and automatic nervous system.
The sensory information can be received by the CNS and they processed the information to the effector organ.PNS sends information to the CNS and sends responses from CNS to effector organs.
In CNS the nerve axons consist of slender projections and carry short nerve impulses. The PNS is composed of long nerve fibers.
