Why are we advised not to use animal fats for cooking

Fats are generally solids at room temperature. Animal fats have saturated carbon chains. Hence they require large quantities of heat to break those chains. In this process a lot of fuel is consumed.
So, we are advised not to use animal fats for cooking.
