Why are algae green?

Algae:

1. Algae refer to photosynthetic aquatic plants that lack a well-defined body structure.
2. They exist in oceans, rivers, lakes, ponds, and even brackish waters.
3. They are usually green in colour but can also be found in different colours.
4. Algae are predominantly green in colour as they contain huge amounts of chlorophyll.
5. Chlorophyll A and Chlorophyll B pigments are present in green algae.
6. Chlorophyll C pigment is found only in marine algae while Chlorophyll D is present in red algae.
