Solution

Dear Student,

The author's grandmother in the 'Portrait of a Lady' is a typical grandmother who is very old and imagining her as a pretty woman is very difficult. The author has compared her grandmother with the serenity of the mountains. Her relation with grandmother has been one of everlasting love and affection. The grandmother's spiritual charm had always fascinated the author. She had a kind and caring attitude towards dogs and sparrows alike. When the author had returned from abroad, she celebrated his homecoming by singing of the warriors. Her death was mourned even by the horde of sparrows, who did not touch the bread crumbs thrown at them but flew away quietly. Author's grandmother was a strong woman with religious values and benevolent nature.
