Solution

Nitrogen and Magnesium:

Functions of nitrogen:

  1. Nitrogen is required for cell division, expansion, and therefore expansion, and so growth.
  2. It encourages vegetative growth and gives the leaves a dark green hue.
  3. It boosts the quality of fodder, leafy greens, and food crops, among other things.

Deficiency symptoms of nitrogen:

  1. Plants with low nitrogen levels have stiff stems, spindly growth, and no lateral buds.
  2. Chlorosis is a side effect (yellowing of leaves).

Functions of magnesium:

  1. In plant tissue, magnesium forms the central core of the chlorophyll molecule.
  2. It contributes to the metabolism of organic acids.
  3. Magnesium also has a role in the activation of some enzyme systems.

Deficiency symptoms of magnesium:

  1. Necrotic patches on the leaves.
  2. Premature defoliation is another symptom of magnesium shortage.
  3. When magnesium levels are low, plant development is inhibited due to a lack of chlorophyll.
