Question

A body of mass 10kg is moving with a velocity 20ms1. If the mass of the body is doubled and its velocity is halved, find the ratio of the initial kinetic energy to the final kinetic energy.

Open in App
Solution

Given , Mass of object, m=10 kg
Velocity of object, v=20ms1
Initial Kinetic energy, K1=12×10×202=2000 J

Now, Final mass, m2=20 kg
Final Velocity, v2=10m/s

Final Kinetic energy, K2=12×20×102=1000 J

Required Ratio = K1K2=20001000=2:1
