● The male sperm possesses X and Y chromosome, whereas the egg possesses the X and X chromosome.​

● So during fertilization females can give only the X chromosome, whereas the male can give either X or Y chromosome.​

● If a couple has only daughters this means that every time sperm possessing only the X chromosome of the father fertilizes the egg of the female.
