Question

A cone and a hemisphere have the same base and the same height. Find the ratio between their volumes.

Open in App
Solution

Volume of cone =13πr2h
Volume of hemisphere = 23πr3
Volume of cylinder = πr2h
Given that cone, hemisphere and cylinder have equal base and same height
That is r = h
Volume of cone : Volume of hemisphere : Volume of cylinder = 13πr2h : 23πr3 : πr2h
=13πr3: 23πr3 : πr3
= 13:23:1
= 1: 2: 3
