Filtration is used for separating insoluble solids from a liquid. Sand and pebbles are insoluble in water, so, they can be removed by filtration. The filterate contains saltwater.

After filtration, pebbles can be spearated from sand by handpicking as they are visibly different.

Since, salt is soluble in water, it can be removed by evaporation. Water evaporates on heating leaving behind the salt.

After the evaporation of water, water vapours can be condensed and collected separately.
