The number of girls = 60% of $x$
But, the number of girls = 18
Therefore, 60% of $x$ = 18

⇒ $\frac{60}{100} \times x = 18$
⇒ $x = 18 \times \frac{10}{6}$
⇒ $x$ = 30
Thus, total number of students = 30
