  1. Body Mass Index is a method of measuring through which individuals are classified into the following categories: obese, overweight, normal weight and underweight.
  2. It is the proportion of your weight to the square of your height.
  3. When a person's height and weight are given in inches and pounds, the BMI can be computed using the formulaBMI=Weight(inpounds)Height(Ininches)2×703
    703 is a conversion factor in this case.
  4. If the person's height and weight are supplied in meters and kilograms, the BMI can be computed using the formula :BMI=Weight(kg)Height(m)2
