Question

Animal activists are against the silk production. Why?

Open in App
Solution

1. To make silk, the cocoon of the silkworm is boiled in water.
2. As a result the worms die in the process of making silk. Hence, animal activists are against it.
3. Since artificial silk is not as fine as natural silk, an alternate way is suggested which is called a non-violent way of making silk.
4. In this method the worm escapes as the cocoon is cut. However, it affects the length of the fibre produced.
