Are poikilotherms ectotherms?

Ectotherms:

1. These organisms depend on external sources(heated rocks, sunlight, etc) for the regulation of body temperature.
2. They are also known as cold-blooded organisms.
3. Example- fishes, amphibians, reptiles, and invertebrates.

Poikilotherms:

1. These organisms cannot regulate their body temperature except by behavioral means such as basking or burrowing.
2. They derive their body heat entirely from their environment.
3. Example- Fishes, amphibians, reptiles, & invertebrates.
4. Therefore, poikilotherms & ectotherms are synonymous.
