Question

Are zero group elements and 18th group elements are same?

Open in App
Solution

The similarity of zero group elements and 18th group elements are explained in following points:

  1. The VIIIA group elements are called the noble gas family since all the Nobel gases are tabulated in it.
  2. All the elements except Xenon are non-reactive. They all have a fulfilling valence shell. Since they have zero valencies so they are called zero group elements.

The above points clearly explains the similarity between zero group elements and 18th group elements.
