Solution

Correct answer: (c) Assertion(A) is true and reason(R) is false.

Plasmodium is a protozoan that causes the disease malaria.
It is transmitted by the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito.
The sporozoites that enter the bloodstream through the bite of the vector mosquito, are carried by the blood into the liver.
They multiply and eventually breaks out of the liver to reenter the bloodstream.
Next, they invade the red blood cells, grow and divide to destroy these RBCs.
Whereas filariasis is a helminthic disease caused by Wuchereria bancrofti.
Here, the assertion is true, but the reason is false.
