Rabies is a viral infection spread via saliva, it is predominantly spread by a bite from an infected animal. Rabies is transmitted by animals and that causes inflammation of the brain and spinal cord. Once the virus reaches the spinal cord and brain, rabies is almost always fatal. Rabies is caused by a lyssaviruse which is present in saliva of rabid animals.
So, the correct answer is option C.
