Solution
The correct option is A Medium water conditions
Types of succession
Based on the nature of habitat, succession is of two types as follows:
Hydrarch succession
Xerarch succession
Hydrarch succession
Hydrarch succession takes place in water or wet areas which leads to mesic (medium water) conditions. Ponds, lakes or other water bodies get continuous sediments from nearby streams and rivers, the sediment sinks to the pond bottom paving way for plant communities to develop.
Water conditions in succession
Water conditions in succession is as follows:
Both hydrarch and xerarch succession lead to medium water conditions.
Such medium water condition is called mesic condition that means neither too dry (xeric) nor too wet (hydric).
For example, If succession takes place in wetter areas and then the seral stages progress from hydric to the mesic conditions in hydrarch succession.
If succession takes place in dry areas and then the seral stages progresses from xeric to mesic conditions in xerarch succession.
