Briefly explain how the voice changes in boys and girls during puberty.

Open in App
Solution

Before puberty, the larynx is pretty small and the vocal chords are small and thin in both boys and girls. Thus, both of them tend to have child-like high pitched voices. During puberty, the larynx of both boys and girls become larger and the vocal chords become thicker. However, the change is more evident in boys than girls. Therefore, girls still tend to have a high pitched voice while boys tend to develop a deeper voice.
