Question

Calculate mass/volume percentage of 20% solution by mass of sulphuric acid

Open in App
Solution

Here in the problem denisty is missing
let density = 1.02g/ml
20% sulphuric acid suggests that 20 ml of sulphuric acid in 100 ml of solution
volume of solute = 20ml
volume of solution = 100 ml
volume of solvent = 100-20 = 80 ml
Density = mass/volume
mass of sulphuric acid = density* volume = 1.02 * 20 =20.4 g
volume of solution = volume of solvent = 80 ml
Mass by volume % = ( mass of solute/volume of solution ) *100
= 20.4 /80 *100 = 25.5%
