(ii) In body centred cubic, Packing efficiency
= Volume occupied by 2 atoms in the unit cell ×100Volume of the unit cell
= 2×(43)πr3×100[(4√3)r]3
= (83)πr3×10064(3×√3)r3=68%
(iii) In face centred cubic, packing efficiency
= Volume occupied by 4 atoms in the unit cell×100Volume of the unit cell
= 4×(43)πr3×100(2√2r)3=(163)πr3×10016√2r3=74%
