Question

Calculate the molecular mass of the following compounds Hydrogen sulphide, H2S

Given Atomic masses: S = 32u, H = 1u

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Calculating the molecular mass

Molecular mass is equal to the sum of atomic masses of all the atoms present in one molecule of a substance.

Step 2: Given data

Atomic masses: S = 32u, H = 1u

Step 3: Finding the molecular mass for the given data

The molecular mass of H2S = 2×1+1×32

Hence, the molecular mass of H2S = 34u
