Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given information

  • 10g of chlorineCl
  • 10gof nitrogenN

Step 2: Molecular weight of nitrogen, and chlorine

The molecular weight of chlorine is 35.5g.

The molecular weight of nitrogen is 14g.

Step 3: Calculation of number of atoms of chlorine Cl

35.5g of chlorine contains 6.022×1023 molecules.

10g of chlorine contains 6.022×102335.5×10=1.7×1023atoms

Step 4: Calculation of number of atoms of nitrogen N

14g of nitrogen contains 6.022×1023 molecules.

10g of nitrogen contains 6.022×102314×10=4.3×1023atoms

Hence, the number of atoms in 10g of chlorine is 1.7×1023 atoms, and in 10gof nitrogen, it is 4.3×1023atoms.
