Question

Can a virtual image be formed on a screen?

Open in App
Solution

  1. A virtual picture is an image formed by light beams from an object that do not meet but appear to meet when created backward.
  2. On the screen, a true image may be obtained.
  3. These photos are not visible on the screen. The true picture is always reversed.
  4. The virtual picture is always horizontal.
  5. As you can see, the light beam does not penetrate the mirror after reflection from it; instead, it is mirrored. The light beams that are reflected are diverging, or they get larger as they go.

Therefore, a virtual image cannot be formed on the screen.
