The two types of cell division that occur in living beings are mitosis and meiosis.

Mitosis

  1. It is also known as equational division.
  2. Mitosis occurs in the somatic cells.
  3. The number of chromosomes remains the same in the daughter cells.
  4. As a result of mitosis, two daughter cells are produced.
  5. Prophase, Metaphase, Telophase, and Anaphase are the four stages of mitosis.

After one mitotic cell division, cell A produces two daughter cells.

Meiosis

  1. Meiosis is a process that occurs in the cells of reproductive organs.
  2. Reduction division is another name for meiosis.
  3. The process of meiosis produces four daughter cells.
  4. As a result of meiosis, the chromosome number is reduced to half in the daughter cells.
  5. Meiosis consist of two subdivisions - Meiosis I and Meiosis II.

After one complete meiotic cell division, cell B produces four daughter cells.
