Homologous chromosome:
Two chromosomes in a pair normally one inherited from the mother and one from the father is called a homologous chromosome.
The homologous chromosome is of the same length, centromere position, and staining pattern.
During fertilization, there will be a pairing of chromosomes inside the cell.
A set of one paternal and one maternal chromosome that pairs up with each other in this way is called a homologous chromosome.
