Solution

Nerve impulse:

  1. A nerve impulse is a signal that is transmitted along a nerve fiber.
  2. It carries information along nerves and hence the nervous system.
  3. A typical neuron consists of a cell body that has some projections known as dendrites.
  4. The cell body extends into a long tube known as the axon.

Structure in a neuron helps to conduct a nerve impulse :

1) The dendrites carry an impulse towards the cell body. They receive the signal from the axon of a preceding axon.

2) The axons carry the impulse away from the cell body. They transfer this impulse to the dendrites of the next neuron.
