Define ozone layer. Why is ozone layer getting depleted at higher level of the atmosphere?

The ozone layer refers to a region of Earth's stratosphere that absorbs most of the Sun's UV radiation. It contains high concentrations of ozone $O_3$ relative to other parts of the atmosphere.
Due to the release of CFCs in the environment, the ozone layer is getting depleted at higher levels of the atmosphere.
