Magnification is defined as the ratio of the size of the image to the size of the object.
Mathematically, $m = \frac{s i z e o f i m a g e}{s i z e o f o b j e c t} = \frac{h'}{h}$
Magnification gives the relative extent to which the image of an object is magnified with respect to the object.
If $m > 1$ then the image is magnified and the image is diminished if $m < 1 .$
The image has the same size of the object if $m = 1 .$
