Cell

  1. A cell is a mass of cytoplasm bound by the cell membrane.
  2. It is usually microscopic.
  3. It is called as a structural and functional unit of life.

Cells are of two types i.e. prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells.

  1. Prokaryotic cell - The cell which does not have a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles is called a prokaryotic cell. Example - bacteria, algae.
  2. Eukaryotic cell - The cell which has a true nucleus and all the membrane-bound organelles is called a eukaryotic cell. Example - plant cell and animal cell.
