Savithri Bai Phule was one of the most prominent Indian women reformers. She promoted women’s education by opening a school in Pune.
She established a rehabilitation centre to help child widows and prevent infanticide.
She also fought caste and gender-based discrimination by leading the Sathya Shodak Samaj after the death of his husband Jyotibha Phule.
